Governor Peter Mba of Enugu State has empathised with the 68 passengers and crew members involved in the runway excursion of flight 4264 operated by Enugu air at Benin airport on Thursday.
In a statement made available to journalists, the governor reassured the airline will keep maintaining high safety standards despite the traumatic incident,
He stated that the high safety rating of Enugu air explains the growing confidence and patronage the airline has continued to enjoy from passengers and industry stakeholders, ensuring that Enugu air will not betray that confidence.
Tragedy struck on Thursday as Enugu air, an aircraft operated by Enugu State Government, crash landed in Benin airport causing panic and trauma among the passengers onboard the aircraft.
The commercial plane veered off the runway, lying flatly on a grassy land with it’s rear tyres already dismembered from the body.
However, Emerald newspapers confirmed from an eye witness account that there were no casualties and injuries.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, has ordered for investigation into the incident with a view to unraveling the cause and forestalling recurrence .
